On 21 September 2026, CONNECTA 2 hosted an interactive workshop in Sarajevo, bringing together the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elektroprenos-Elektroprijenos BiH, Independent System Operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The event was organised for the CONNECTA 2 sub-project ‘Feasibility Study and Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment on the development of the transmission network for the Bosnia and Herzegovina nation-wide grid and interconnections with neighbouring countries for the purpose of integration of planned RES’. The prime objective of the said assignment is to assess the status of the high voltage transmission network in Bosnia and Herzegovina along with identification of the most technically and economically viable solutions for upgrade of existing and construction of new infrastructure to secure reliable and large-scale renewable generation capacity as part of the country’s power system decarbonisation plan.
The workshop focused on the proposed methodology for the option analysis – defining scenarios from the transmission system perspective and establishing the methodology for conducting the system studies (including a list of cross-border and internal transmission development options) and adequate project assessments. Combining presentations, explaining software tools for market and network analysis and interactive discussions, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for the stakeholders to address the proposed approach and share the insights which will be considered in further development of scenarios and analysis conducted within CONNECTA 2 technical assistance.
The workshop took place during the Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week, which runs from 21 to 25 September 2026.
