CONNECTA attends the Training on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Traffic Control Centres

A two-day training on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and functionality of traffic control centres was held on 30 November and 1 December in Zagreb. The Transport Community Permanent Secretariat, in partnership with the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb, the Croatian Motorways and the University of Belgrade, organised the training for twenty-two participants from the Western Balkans dealing with ITS legislation, road management and traffic control.

The training program focused on the traffic control centres’ history and detailed description of EU legislation pertinent to ITS deployment, interoperability standards, procurement strategies, design and operation.

As the deployment of ITS on the road network and building of traffic control centres has begun in the Western Balkans,  adequate planning, design and maintenance are essential elements of this process – as these will enable the operators and other stakeholders to anticipate the demands on the road network, initiate traffic control strategies, and coordinate their responses to incidents.

A CONNECTA expert attended the event to showcase the ITS Interoperability Standards.
